But Freaky also boasts some of the most inventive murders in recent memory – letting table-saws rip, doing unspeakable things with a wine bottle, and even dispatching someone with a tennis racket. Newton is delightful as the wallflower-turned-psychopath, and Vaughan fully commits to teendom with all its hardships and vulnerabilities (not to mention secret handshakes). Vaughn is (for the opening scenes, at least) the Jason Voorhees-alike Blissfield Butcher – but after bloodily obtaining a shady-looking dagger with body-swapping powers, the Butcher inhabits introverted teen Millie ( Blockers' Kathryn Newton) and embarks upon a merry killing spree of her highschool's most dastardly.
